The first John Woo film produced in Hollywood, Hard Target starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Lance Henrickson was an interesting first impression. It had brilliant direction by Woo, despite the fact that he couldn't get Van Damme to listen to him on set. Rumors abound to this day that the movie was supposed to be much longer and delve into Henrickson's character, and it had to be re-edited (blog post) several times due to excessive violence pushing it beyond an R rating. After so much done against the director's vision... (blog post) how does it stand up?
